Admission Qualifications

If you're currently an IU Indianapolis student, you have two options for admission to Kelley Indianapolis. Current students no longer have to submit an application to be admitted from University College to the Kelley School of Business Undergraduate Program. You'll be notified when the admission requirements are met. To certify into the Kelley School of Business from University College, you will need meet one of the following sets of admission criteria. You will be certified as soon as you meet either set of requirements:

This option is intended for IU Indianapolis students who have demonstrated high achievement during their first semesters at IU Indianapolis. Option 1 gives you early access to the ideas, internships and insights that will pave a road to career success.

  • Complete a minimum of 30 credit hours or more of college course work that counts toward graduation with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. or higher This course work may be taken at an Indiana University campus or at another accredited institution offering a comparable program.
  • Finish all incompletes.
  • Complete the following courses with a grade of C or higher and with an average GPA of 3.0 higher:
    1. ENG W131 Reading, Writing, and Inquiry
    2. BUS X100 Business Administration - Intro
    3. BUS X103 First Year Seminar (substitutions permitted)
    4. BUS A100 Basic Accounting Skills
    5. BUS K201 The Computer in Business
    6. MATH M118 Finite Mathematics
    7. MATH M119 Brief Survey of Calculus

This option is designed for juniors and seniors who are ready to get down to business. This is the most common route students take when being admitted into Kelley Indianapolis. Admission is competitive, but once you've been accepted to Kelley, you're one step closer to a prestigious Kelley degree.

  • Complete 60 or more credit hours of college course work that count toward graduation with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of application. Students with GPAs below 2.5 at the time of application will be denied. This course work may be taken at an Indiana University campus or at another accredited institution offering a comparable program.
  • Finish all incompletes.
  • Complete the following courses with a grade of C or higher:
    1. ENG W131 Reading, Writing, and Inquiry
    2. COMM-R 110 Fundamentals of Speech Communication
    3. BUS X100 Intro to Business Administration
    4. BUS X103 First Year Seminar (substitutions permitted)
    5. BUS K201 The Computer in Business
    6. BUS X204 Business Communications
    7. BUS X220 Professional Perspectives
    8. BUS L203 Commercial Law I
    9. BUS J 211 Foundations of Integrated Business Decision Making
  • Complete the following courses with a minimum grade of C and an average GPA of 2.5 or higher:
    1. BUS A100 Basic Accounting Skills
    2. BUS A201 Introduction to Financial Accounting
    3. BUS A202 Introduction to Managerial Accounting
    4. BUS K303 Technology and Business Analytics
    5. ECON E201 Introduction to Microeconomics
    6. ECON E202 Introduction to Macroeconomics
    7. ECON E270 Introduction to Statistical Theory in Economics
    8. MATH M118 Finite Mathematics
    9. MATH M119 Brief Survey of Calculus

Certification Process

Be sure to list your major as Pre-Business, Pre-Accounting, Pre-Finance, Pre-Management, Pre-HR Management, Pre-Marketing, or Pre-Supply Chain Management with your University College advisor (International Dimension and Real Estate Co-Majors may be chosen after certification).

You will automatically be reviewed for certification each semester after final grades post.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, the Kelley School of Business admissions team will reach out to you via your IU email account regarding your certification.

Certification must be accepted by the student for certification to be finalized.
