Honors Program

If you’re looking for a competitive edge once you've graduated or if you enjoy going the extra mile on a task, the Kelley Indianapolis Honors program offers you an honors-level experience within the business curriculum. Separate from IU Indianapolis Honors College, the Kelley Indianapolis Honors program is a business-focused program that allows high-achieving Kelley students to:

  • Take Honors I-Core, where you’ll tackle a project that lets you showcase your skills to solve real and timely business challenges.
  • Complete six more credit hours of Kelley courses at the Honors level, two Honors College courses, and at least four more credit hours of Honors electives.
  • Network and socialize through programs, events, conferences and school-related trips with other Kelley Honors students, giving your college experience a sense of teamwork as you move through your degree together.

I liked the perks of being in Kelley Honors: Smaller class sizes, more interaction with professors, and courses that challenge you and immerse you in learning business.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for the Kelley Indianapolis Honors program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 at the time of admission to Kelley Honors.
  • Completed 13 credit hours at the time of application.
  • Complete MATH-M 118 or MATH-M 119 with a B or better at time of admission to Kelley Honors.
  • Not yet completed I-Core.
  • Be admitted or are anticipating admission to the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis.

To apply, you must submit your application materials to the Kelley Honors Application site on Canvas. Application materials include your unofficial transcript, your resume, an essay, and a teacher recommendation. The application site will go live on January 15 and August 15 each year.

Exception: Students admitted to the Kelley School of Business who are on scholarship with the IU Indianapolis Honors College are automatically admitted to the Kelley Honors program.

How to Earn Kelley Honors Recognition

To successfully complete the Kelley Indianapolis Honors program, you must:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 in Honors courses.
  • Complete 24 total Honors credit hours (up to 20 hours of required courses plus at least four credit hours of Honors electives).

Students are required to complete 18 credit hours within Kelley, up to two credit hours within the Honors College, and at least four credit hours of Honors electives.

    • BUS-Z 374 Honors Team Dynamics & Leadership: Integrated Experience (3 cr.)
  • BUS-J 402 Strategic Management: Honors (3 cr.)
  • BUS-W 494 Herman B. Wells Seminar in Leadership (3 cr.)

Required Honors College Course

  • HON-H 200 Introduction to Honors (1 cr.)
  • HON-H 496 Honors Senior Portfolio (0-1 cr.)
